Jim’s Bio
Jim Wetherald grew up on the water in Marblehead, Massachusetts where boats and boating became a way of life early on. After graduating Syracuse University with a degree in marketing, Jim became a full time yacht captain. He ran boats professionally for ten years, making annual trips between New England, the Canadian Maritimes, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. During this time, he skippered for such notable yachtsman as Henry Hinckley and Ted Hood. Jim joined the sales team at Little Harbor Yachts in 1985
Jim specializes in high quality cruising yachts of all makes and sizes. In addition, he has an intimate knowledge of both the Hinckley and Little Harbor lines having spent literally his entire life around the two companies. He offers the unique perspective of one who has hands-on experience in yacht management, maintenance, seamanship, design and construction. Many of his clients stay in close contact, seeking advice on such topics as cruising destinations and boatyard refit work.
Jim spends his off time working on and sailing his 42 foot teak cutter “Arianna”. Aside from being a Certified Professional Yacht Broker, Jim is also the Co-Chairman of the Yacht Brokers Association of America Standards and Ethics Committee. He also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captains license and is a member of the Cruising Club of America and the Bristol Yacht Club.
